Felt hats
Felt is one of my favourite materials. I love how it can be shaped over the block and manipulated by hand. It can create sculptural pieces or form a lovely backdrop for fabulous decoration. I have made many felt hats this year taking inspiration from the 1920’s to the 1940’s and beyond.

Great Grandma Ethel's Cloche. Violet colored hood wool felt, trimmed with violet silk ribbon and a selection of velvet lilacs.

1930's Zip hat. Blocked in "sangria" colored felt. This hat unzips to form a rose like coil, which can be easily packed away for travel. The hat regains its structure when zipped back together. The metal zip is hand inserted with tiny stitches.
